playing with acrylics

My acrylics have not been touched in ages so yesterday I decided to play.  I wanted to play intuitively so I started with an old unfinished  watercolor painting, wet the surface and scrubbed off most of the paint.  After it dried, I started playing with some of the ghost shapes, layering images and adding textures as I went along.  Several times areas were painted over and reworked.  This is the result of  four hours of play.    I also played a bit with Citra-Solve.  You can see the painting here.

remembering joanna

Hard to believe that it has been 3 months since my dear friend JoAnna Pierotti left us.  She crosses my mind everyday.  A few years ago during one of our play days, she taught me how to make a necklace for my Kayla's birthday.  It was on a micro mini canvas, very colorful, lots of bling and a pink ribbon to go around her neck...she loved it.  Today I made another version of the necklace in honor of JoAnna....I know she was watching me create.  I miss my friend.

repacho jeans

Growing up I spent hours watching my grandmother do beautiful stitch work, she was a great seamstress.  I also watched my mother do amazing crochet work as well as almost anything creative.  When my favorite jeans developed rips, and holes, I decided to save them.  A bit of stitching, pieces of vintage crochet and some boro stitching, made my jeans better than new.
